Tiger Wolf Spider
Tigrosa helluo

A ground-hunting wolf spider of eastern North America, often found in leaf litter, grassy edges, marshy areas, and damp woodland margins. It does not build a prey-catching web, instead using keen senses and quick lunges to catch insects and other small arthropods. Its venom helps subdue prey, though bites to humans are uncommon and usually not serious. Females carry the egg sac attached to the spinnerets and later carry the tiny spiderlings on the abdomen.
