Largemouth Bass
Micropterus salmoides

Largemouth bass live in warm lakes, ponds, reservoirs, and slow rivers with weeds, logs, or other cover. They are ambush predators, waiting near structure before lunging at fish, crayfish, frogs, and large aquatic insects. Adults defend nest sites in shallow water during breeding season. Their upper jaw extends past the eye, giving the species its famously oversized mouth and powerful suction strike.
