Mosquitofish
Gambusia affinis

Mosquitofish are tiny livebearing freshwater fish found in warm ponds, ditches, wetlands, and slow streams, often near the surface and among aquatic vegetation. They feed on mosquito larvae, small crustaceans, insect eggs, and other tiny aquatic prey, using quick snaps and darting movements. Despite their size, they can be bold and nippy around other fish, sometimes biting fins or competing aggressively for food. A notable fact is that they have been widely introduced for mosquito control, but outside their native range they can harm local fish and amphibian populations.
