Yellow-faced Bumble Bee
Bombus vosnesenskii

The adult yellow-faced bumble bee is a common pollinator of western North America, visiting wildflowers, crops, and garden blooms for nectar and pollen. It flies with a loud buzz and can use vibration to shake pollen loose from certain flowers. Workers and queens can defend themselves with a venomous sting, while males lack a functional sting. Its bright yellow facial hairs and yellow abdominal band make it one of the region’s most recognizable bumble bees.
