Small Phoenix
Ecliptopera silaceata

The adult is a small night-flying geometrid moth found in damp habitats such as woodland rides, marshy edges, and streamside vegetation. It flies in search of mates and nectar while remaining closely tied to places where willowherbs support its larvae. By day it rests on vegetation or trunks, where its mottled brown-and-cream wings help break up its outline. Its notable angled wing posture and patterned markings give it the “phoenix” look reflected in its common name.
