Leaf-footed Bug
Leptoglossus oppositus

The adult leaf-footed bug is a plant-feeding true bug found on vegetation, especially where fruits, seeds, or tender shoots are available. It uses a piercing-sucking beak to draw sap and can fly between host plants when disturbed or searching for food. Its flattened, leaf-like hind legs help break up its outline among stems and foliage. When threatened, it can release a strong-smelling chemical secretion that makes many predators hesitate.
