Green Dock Beetle
Gastrophysa viridula

The adult is a small metallic green leaf beetle found on docks, sorrels, and nearby low vegetation in open or disturbed habitats. It feeds on leaves and may drop from a plant or cling tightly when threatened. Its hard wing cases protect the body while still allowing flight between host plants. Females can become noticeably swollen with eggs, making the abdomen look stretched before laying.
