Brown Trout Juvenile
Salmo trutta (juvenile)

Brown trout juveniles, often called parr, occupy riffles, runs, and stream pools where cover and current meet. They feed mainly on aquatic insect larvae, small crustaceans, and surface insects, darting out from a station before returning to cover. Juveniles can be territorial, defending feeding spots with quick charges and nips at rivals. Their vertical parr marks are especially useful camouflage in broken stream light.
