Corn Snake Juvenile
Pantherophis guttatus (juvenile)

A juvenile corn snake ranges more widely through brush, field margins, and abandoned structures while still spending much of its time under cover. It feeds on small rodents, lizards, and occasional amphibians, gradually shifting toward a more rodent-based diet as it grows. Juveniles may hiss, coil, and vibrate the tail when threatened, but they are nonvenomous and depend mainly on escape or bluffing. Their colors are often especially bold before fading slightly with age.
