Allen's Hummingbird
Selasphorus sasin

A tiny, brilliant hummingbird of coastal scrub, chaparral, gardens, and open woodland along the Pacific coast of North America. It feeds mainly on flower nectar, catching small insects and spiders for protein. Males defend feeding territories with fierce aerial chases and steep display dives that produce a sharp wing trill. Despite weighing only a few grams, it is highly energetic and can hover with exceptional control.
