Purple-edged Copper
Lycaena hippothoe

The adult Purple-edged Copper is a small butterfly of damp flower-rich meadows, bog edges, and mountain grasslands. It feeds on nectar and uses quick, low flights between flowers and sunny perches. Males patrol and chase rivals over their territories, while females search for suitable sorrel or dock plants for egg-laying. The purple sheen along the wing edges is especially noticeable in fresh males under good light.
