Blackened Hawthorn Psyllid
Cacopsylla melanoneura
The adult is a minute jumping plant-louse found in hedgerows, orchards, and woodland edges where hawthorn and apple-family plants grow. It feeds on sap with piercing mouthparts and escapes threats with rapid jumps and short flights. Adults overwinter on sheltering vegetation before returning to host plants in spring. This species is notable because it can help spread apple proliferation phytoplasma between plants.
