American Bison
Bos bison

American bison inhabit open grasslands, prairies, and river valleys across parts of North America. They graze mainly on grasses, sedges, and other low vegetation, using their large heads to sweep aside snow in winter. A powerful shoulder hump, heavy skull, and short curved horns make close-range shoving and head clashes central to defense and mating contests. Despite their bulk, they can sprint at high speed over short distances.
