White-throated Dipper
Cinclus cinclus

An adult of this species lives along cold, fast streams and rivers, often perching on boulders before diving into the current. It feeds mainly on aquatic insect larvae, small crustaceans, mollusks, and occasionally tiny fish, walking underwater with strong legs while using its wings for balance. Its dense plumage, closable nostrils, and extra eye membrane help it forage beneath the surface. It is famous as one of the few songbirds that regularly swims and hunts underwater.
