Ghost Ant
Tapinoma melanocephalum

A tiny tropical ant often found in warm buildings, greenhouses, wall voids, leaf litter, and potted plants. Workers forage for sugary liquids such as nectar, honeydew, and household sweets, while also taking small dead insects and protein scraps. The pale legs and nearly translucent abdomen make a moving worker difficult to spot on light surfaces. Like other Tapinoma ants, it lacks a powerful sting but can rely on speed, concealment, and defensive chemicals.
