Green Cloverworm Caterpillar
Hypena scabra (larva)

The green cloverworm caterpillar lives on low herbaceous plants in fields, pastures, gardens, and crop edges where clover, alfalfa, soybean, and related plants grow. It feeds by chewing leaf tissue and often leaves ragged holes in the foliage. When disturbed, it may wriggle, drop from the plant, or rely on its green body to blend into leaves. One notable trait is its habit of having only three pairs of abdominal prolegs, which gives it a looping, inchworm-like movement.
