White-headed Munia
Lonchura maja
The adult White-headed Munia is a small finch of lowland Southeast Asian wetlands, grasslands, reedbeds, gardens, and rice-growing areas. It feeds mostly on grass seeds and rice, using its stout conical bill to husk small grains. Adults are recognizable by the clean white head and throat contrasting with warm brown body plumage. They build rounded grass nests with side entrances, often tucked into dense vegetation.
