Pharaoh Ant
Monomorium pharaonis

This tiny yellowish ant thrives in warm, humid places, especially buildings, wall voids, kitchens, hospitals, and protected outdoor nesting sites in tropical regions. A worker forages for sweets, oils, proteins, and dead insects, following chemical trails through cracks and narrow spaces. It is famous as a difficult indoor pest because colonies can split into many satellite nests when disturbed. Unlike many ants, its stinger is effectively nonfunctional, so its defenses rely more on small size, hidden nesting, mandibles, and chemical signals.
