Kotschy's Gecko
Mediodactylus kotschyi

Kotschy's Gecko is a small Mediterranean and Balkan gecko found on rocky slopes, stone walls, ruins, scrub, and sometimes buildings. It hides in cracks by day and becomes active at dusk or night, snapping up moths, flies, spiders, and other small invertebrates. Its mottled grey-brown body blends well with stone, and it can shed its tail to distract a predator. Unlike many familiar house geckos, its toes are relatively slender and clawed, helping it cling to rough rock rather than smooth glass.
