Oriental Cockroach
Blatta orientalis

An adult dark brown to black cockroach that favors cool, moist places such as drains, crawl spaces, basements, and outdoor debris. It is mostly nocturnal and scavenges on decaying organic matter, starchy scraps, and refuse. Males have developed wings and females have short wing pads, but this species rarely flies and usually escapes by running into cover. A notable musty odor can be produced around infestations, helping distinguish it from many other household cockroaches.
