Black Hornbill
Anthracoceros malayanus

The adult Black Hornbill is a forest hornbill of Southeast Asian lowland, swamp, and mature secondary forests. It flies between fruiting trees, feeding heavily on figs while also taking insects, lizards, and other small animals when available. Adults use strong wingbeats, loud calls, and a large bill with a casque for display, feeding, and defense. One notable breeding behavior is that the female seals herself inside a tree cavity during nesting while the male delivers food through a small opening.
