Vexans Mosquito
Aedes vexans
Adult mosquitoes are delicate flying insects found near water, vegetation, and sheltered places where they can rest between flights. Both sexes feed on nectar, while females of many species also take blood meals to develop eggs. They locate hosts using cues such as carbon dioxide, body heat, and scent, then pierce skin with specialized mouthparts. Their high-pitched whine comes from rapid wingbeats, a notable sound produced during flight.
