Eastern Kingbird
Tyrannus tyrannus

Adult Eastern Kingbirds breed in open habitats with scattered trees, fence lines, wetlands, and field edges across much of North America. They hunt by flying out from exposed perches to catch insects in midair, and they also eat berries, especially outside the breeding season. Adults are famously aggressive nest defenders, often diving at crows, hawks, and other much larger intruders. Their white-tipped tail and upright perching posture make them easy to recognize in the field.
