Dusky Dancer
Argia fumipennis
The adult Dusky Dancer is a slender damselfly found near streams, ponds, and wet margins where it perches on low vegetation. It hunts small flying insects such as gnats, mosquitoes, and midges, taking them in quick aerial sallies. Adults are agile fliers but often return to favorite perches between flights. Its smoky wing coloration and wing-flicking displays make it especially noticeable in sunlight.
