Walking Catfish
Clarias batrachus

Adult walking catfish inhabit warm freshwater wetlands, canals, ponds, marshes, and flooded fields, especially places with muddy bottoms and low oxygen. They are hardy bottom predators and scavengers, eating insects, worms, crustaceans, small fish, amphibians, and carrion. During wet conditions they can wriggle over land using body waves and stiff pectoral fins to reach new water. A notable adaptation is their air-breathing organ, which lets them survive in stagnant pools and persist out of water for extended periods if kept moist.
