Fin Whale
Balaenoptera physalus

Fin whales are huge baleen whales of open oceans, often traveling through deep offshore waters and productive feeding grounds. They feed by lunging through schools of krill and small fish, filtering prey with baleen plates rather than teeth. Despite their size, they are among the fastest great whales and can make long seasonal migrations. Their very low-frequency calls can travel vast distances underwater, making sound an important part of their life in the ocean.
