Black Sea Bass
Centropristis striata

Adult black sea bass inhabit rocky bottoms, reefs, jetties, and wrecks along the western Atlantic coast. They are active bottom-associated predators, eating crabs, shrimp, small fish, squid, and other invertebrates. Adults use strong jaws and sudden lunges around structure to capture prey. A notable trait is that many individuals begin life as females and some later change into males.
