Bumblebee Millipede
Anadenobolus monilicornis

The adult bumblebee millipede lives in warm, humid Caribbean habitats, especially under leaf litter, stones, logs, and garden debris. It is a slow detritivore, feeding mostly on decaying leaves and other rotting plant matter rather than hunting live prey. When threatened, it coils tightly and releases noxious defensive chemicals from glands along the body. Its bold black-and-yellow bands act as aposematic warning colors, advertising that it is unpleasant to eat.
