European Tarnished Plant Bug
Lygus rugulipennis

A small mirid bug found across Europe in meadows, field margins, gardens, and crop fields, especially where flowering plants are abundant. It feeds by piercing plant tissues with a needle-like rostrum and sucking sap from buds, shoots, flowers, and developing fruits. Adults are active and mobile, often dropping or flying off when disturbed, while nymphs move quickly over host plants. A notable fact is that this species is highly polyphagous, using many different wild and cultivated plants and sometimes becoming an important agricultural pest.
