Buffalo Treehopper
Stictocephala taurina

The adult Buffalo Treehopper is found on woody plants, orchard trees, and weedy field edges where it feeds on sap with a piercing beak. It often rests along stems, and its green, angular body can resemble a thorn or bud. Adults have working wings and can hop or fly when disturbed, but they usually depend on camouflage before fleeing. Its most recognizable feature is the enlarged pronotum with hornlike side projections, giving the insect its buffalo-like shape.
