Hemiplecta humphreysiana

The adult Garden Snail is a terrestrial tropical snail found in moist gardens, forest edges, and shaded ground cover where it can avoid drying out. It grazes on leaves, tender shoots, fungi, algae, and decomposing plant material, leaving a mucus trail as it travels. Activity is usually highest at night or in wet weather, while dry periods are spent hidden in shelter or sealed inside the shell. Like many land snails, it is a hermaphrodite, with each adult possessing both male and female reproductive organs.
