Common Green June Beetle
Cotinis nitida

The adult is a metallic green scarab beetle found around gardens, orchards, fields, and woodland edges in the eastern United States. It feeds on ripe or damaged fruit, sap, and soft plant material, often flying noisily during warm daylight hours. Adults are strong but clumsy fliers and may bump into leaves, fruit, or obstacles while searching for food and mates. Its shining green wing covers and loud buzzing flight make it one of the more noticeable summer beetles.
