Pure Green Augochlora
Augochlora pura
Pure Green Augochlora is a small metallic-green sweat bee found in eastern North American woodlands, gardens, and forest edges, often nesting in decaying logs or soft rotting wood. Adults visit many flowers for nectar and pollen, carrying pollen back to provision brood cells. Females can sting in defense, but they are generally non-aggressive and more likely to flee than fight. A notable feature is their vivid emerald sheen, created by structural coloration rather than green pigment.
