Large Indian Civet
Viverra zibetha

The adult Large Indian Civet is a nocturnal carnivoran of forests, plantations, scrub, and village-edge habitats across South and Southeast Asia. It is mostly solitary and omnivorous, hunting small mammals, birds, reptiles, frogs, and insects while also eating fruit and other plant matter. It moves quietly along the ground and through dense cover, using scent trails and surprise rather than open pursuit. A notable feature is its strong perineal musk secretion, historically collected as civet musk for perfume.
