White-footed Deermouse
Peromyscus leucopus

White-footed deermice live in deciduous woods, brushy edges, fields, and outbuildings across much of eastern North America. They are mostly nocturnal, climbing well and nesting in sheltered cavities, logs, or abandoned burrows. Their diet is omnivorous, including seeds, nuts, berries, fungi, insects, and other small invertebrates. A notable fact is that they cache food for winter and can navigate complex home ranges with strong spatial memory.
