Banana Rasp Snail
Archachatina marginata

Adult Giant African Snails inhabit warm, humid forests, farms, gardens, and disturbed areas across parts of West Africa and introduced regions. They are mostly nocturnal or active after rain, grazing on a wide range of leaves, fruit, bark, fungi, and decaying organic matter. Their large coiled shell provides strong protection, and they retreat into it when threatened or during dry periods. This species is hermaphroditic, with each adult capable of producing eggs after mating.
