Blyth's River Frog
Limnonectes blythii
The adult is a large river frog of Southeast Asian forest streams, often resting along banks, rocks, and muddy pools. It is a powerful ambush predator that eats insects, crustaceans, smaller frogs, and other animals it can overpower with a sudden lunge. Males are especially robust and have prominent toothlike jaw projections used in combat and gripping. Its strong association with clean, flowing water makes stream disturbance and collection for food important conservation pressures in some areas.
