Willow Leaf Beetle
Lochmaea capreae

The adult is a small, hard-bodied beetle found on willows, poplars, and nearby vegetation in damp woodland edges, hedgerows, and river margins. It feeds by chewing holes in leaves and moves by climbing, dropping, or making short flights between plants. Its hardened wing cases protect the folded flying wings beneath. Adults can overwinter in sheltered litter or bark crevices before returning to host plants in spring.
