Alder Leaf Beetle
Agelastica alni

A small metallic blue leaf beetle found on alder trees in damp woodland, river edges, hedgerows, and parks. Adults chew holes in alder leaves, while heavy outbreaks can leave foliage ragged and partly skeletonized. When disturbed, it may drop from the leaf or take short flights to another branch. Its hard elytra protect the delicate flight wings underneath, giving this tiny beetle surprising durability for its size.
