Black-Veined White
Aporia crataegi

The adult butterfly is found in sunny hedgerows, orchards, scrub, and open woodland edges where its larval host plants grow. It feeds on flower nectar and flies with a light, fluttering glide between blossoms and shrubs. Females lay batches of eggs on suitable Rosaceae host plants for the next generation of caterpillars. Its white wings are crossed by bold black veins, a distinctive pattern that gives the species its common name.
