Banded house mosquito
Culiseta annulata

The adult is a large mosquito of damp woodlands, gardens, outbuildings, and other sheltered places near standing water. Females take blood meals from birds and mammals to develop eggs, while both sexes also feed on nectar and other plant sugars. It flies with a high whine and rests quietly on walls, vegetation, or in cool buildings. Its pale-banded legs and marked wings make it one of the more distinctive house-visiting mosquitoes.
