Garden Cockroach
Ectobius vittiventris

This small outdoor cockroach lives in warm gardens, hedgerows, compost edges, and leaf litter, especially around shrubs and low vegetation. It feeds mostly on decaying plant material, fungi, and other soft organic scraps rather than hunting live prey. Adults are quick runners and may flutter or fly short distances, often being drawn to lights on warm evenings. Unlike many household pest cockroaches, it rarely survives for long indoors and does not normally form indoor infestations.
