Small Elephant Hawk-Moth
Deilephila porcellus

The adult is a pink-and-olive hawk-moth found in dry grassland, coastal dunes, heath, and other open habitats with nectar flowers. It flies mostly at dusk and at night, hovering at blossoms while drinking nectar with its long proboscis. Adults are swift, direct fliers and are often attracted to light. Its bright rosy wing pattern is distinctive, though at rest the moth can still blend among flowers and dry vegetation.
