Chalice Flea Beetle
Psylliodes chalcomerus

The adult is a tiny leaf beetle found on herbaceous host plants, especially thistles and related plants, where it chews small holes in foliage. Its enlarged hind legs let it spring away like a flea when disturbed, and it can also fly between plants. The hard, shiny exoskeleton gives some protection despite its minute size. A notable feature of flea beetles is their explosive jump, which makes them difficult for predators to seize.
