Aster Leafhopper
Macrosteles quadrilineatus

Aster leafhoppers are tiny sap-feeding insects found in grasslands, weedy fields, gardens, and crop edges where asters, grains, and other host plants grow. They move by springing away with powerful hind legs and can also make short flights between stems. Their diet is plant phloem, taken through needle-like piercing mouthparts. A notable fact is that they can transmit aster yellows phytoplasma, a plant pathogen that affects many crops and flowers.
