White Cockatoo
Cacatua alba

Adult white cockatoos live in the forests, mangroves, plantations, and wooded edges of Indonesia’s North Maluku islands. They fly between feeding and roosting sites, climb skillfully with their beak and feet, and use loud calls to stay in contact. Their diet includes seeds, nuts, fruit, berries, and other plant material cracked open with a powerful curved beak. The raised white crest is a striking display signal, spreading when the bird is excited, alarmed, or communicating.
