Clouded Yellow
Colias croceus
The adult Clouded Yellow is a fast-flying butterfly of flowery grasslands, farmland edges, dunes, and sunny open habitats. It feeds on nectar from flowers and searches for suitable legume plants on which to lay eggs. Adults fly strongly and often migrate long distances, sometimes appearing far beyond their usual breeding areas. Its yellow-orange wings are usually held closed at rest, showing paler undersides with small spots.
