Hentz striped scorpion
Centruroides hentzi

The Hentz striped scorpion is a small nocturnal scorpion of the southeastern United States, often found under bark, logs, stones, and leaf litter in sandy woods and scrub. It hunts insects, spiders, and other tiny arthropods by grabbing them with its pincers and finishing them with a venomous sting. During the day it stays hidden in tight shelter to avoid heat and predators. Like many scorpions, its cuticle fluoresces blue-green under ultraviolet light.
