Bronzed Tiger Beetle
Cicindela repanda
The adult is a sun-loving tiger beetle of sandy river edges, mudflats, trails, and other open ground near water. It hunts by sprinting in quick bursts, stopping to track prey with large eyes before biting ants, flies, and other small arthropods. If alarmed, it often takes a short low flight and lands a little farther ahead. Its bronzed body and pale markings help break up its outline on bright sand and mud.
