Mexican Free-tailed Bat
Tadarida brasiliensis

The adult Mexican free-tailed bat is a fast, open-air hunter often found in huge cave, bridge, and building roosts across the Americas. It feeds mainly on moths, beetles, flies, and other night-flying insects caught on the wing. Long, narrow wings allow rapid, efficient flight over fields, towns, and waterways. Its echolocation calls help it track tiny prey in darkness, and this species is famous for forming some of the largest bat colonies in the world.
